Here Now Films to Produce 25 year Anniversary Documentary Series for ECOTRUST in Uganda

We’re stoked to announce that Here Now Films has been awarded the contract to produce a series of high-impact films for ECOTRUST, a leading environmental conservation organisation in Uganda. This project is a testament to our growing reputation for producing world-class documentary content that captures the intersection of environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and biodiversity restoration.

On Sunday, February 9th, our film crew will be heading to Uganda to embark on this ambitious project, which aims to showcase ECOTRUST’s innovative conservation methodologies and their tangible impact on both people and the planet. With our experience in crafting cinematic and compelling visual narratives, we will be documenting the stories of communities engaged in landscape restoration, the groundbreaking Trees for Global Benefit (TGB) programme, and the pioneering bio-credit initiative, among others.

This project builds on the momentum of our award-winning Bio-Estrela Project in Portugal, where we partnered with C Level to document community-led conservation and rewilding efforts. Through our work on Bio-Estrela, we were introduced to ECOTRUST, whose mission aligns closely with our commitment to telling impactful environmental stories. This new collaboration marks an exciting expansion of our work in the climate and conservation space.

Why This Film Matters

Uganda is at the forefront of the global fight against deforestation, biodiversity loss, and climate change. ECOTRUST has spent decades developing community-led solutions that address these urgent issues while ensuring that local communities benefit economically from sustainable practices. Through a triple-win model, ECOTRUST integrates environmental conservation, socio-economic upliftment, and biodiversity restoration into scalable programmes.

Our films will serve multiple key objectives:

  • Inspire confidence in ECOTRUST’s methodologies and mission, demonstrating how conservation and community empowerment can go hand in hand.
  • Provide clear insights into the science, strategy, and impact of ECOTRUST’s flagship programmes, ensuring transparency and credibility for funders and stakeholders.
  • Offer an engaging, visually rich narrative that educates audiences on the challenges of climate solutions and showcases ECOTRUST’s pioneering role in this space.

What We’re Producing

This project will result in a suite of diverse film assets, each designed to engage different audiences and amplify the reach of ECOTRUST’s work:

  • Hero Film (3–5 minutes): A visually stunning overview of ECOTRUST’s mission, methodologies, and impact.
  • Programme Films (3 minutes each): Focused explorations of key ECOTRUST initiatives, including Trees for Global Benefit (TGB), the Budongo-Bugoma Corridor Restoration (Bio-Credits), and the Land Trust Programme.
  • TGB Documentary (8–10 minutes): A deep dive into how the TGB programme supports local farmers, generates high-quality carbon credits, and restores vital ecosystems.
  • Social Media Suite: Short, high-impact video clips (15–60 seconds) and a series of professional photographs that highlight key themes and individual success stories.

Capturing Conservation in Action

Our team will be traveling extensively across Uganda to document the full scope of ECOTRUST’s work. We will be capturing:

  • Sweeping aerial shots of landscapes undergoing restoration.
  • Community-led conservation efforts, from tree planting to biodiversity monitoring.
  • First-hand accounts from local farmers, ECOTRUST coordinators, and conservation experts.
  • The transformational impact of ECOTRUST’s work on both the environment and the livelihoods of the people who depend on it.

Through immersive storytelling, we aim to showcase how ECOTRUST is not only combating deforestation and climate change but also creating sustainable pathways for communities to thrive.
