Barbara Hepworth

Creating an exhibition documentary for The Tate membership on one of the world’s most famous sculptor artists.

Barbara Hepworth Art & Life is more than a grand exhibition about a famous artist that once was. Art & Life represents a lifetime of work of one of the UK’s most renown, and influential sculpture artists.

The Tate came approached Here Now Films London to create a hard hitting, immersive micro documentary told the story of this landmark exhibition. The documentary draws the audience through each space, breaking away to b roll and sequences from the places and people she drew inspiration from. Part exhibition film, part micro documentary on a life, this film was created to capture the legacy of the project and to share the exhibition with the Tate’s paying members across the world.

The Outcome

The final film was shown to Tate’s global membership audience with the team at the Tate being really happy with the outcome.

Ed & Ollie worked with Tate to deliver a film for Tate St Ives. They were lovely to work with and had great energy and lots of creative ideas. They were very generous with their time and really flexible throughout the project. They look the time to listen to what we wanted and are both clearly passionate about film-making. Thanks! – Saskia Mercuri, Producer Tate Galleries

Since this intial project, Here Now Films has gone on to become The Tate’s go to team for all of their artist in residence films.
