We’ve just wrapped up another exciting project—this time for Magnet Media, a creative agency based out of New York. They brought us on board to deliver a full film crew hire service for a shoot at One Canada Square in Canary Wharf, London. Magnet Media needed a multi-camera setup to capture two panel discussions featuring executives, and they were on a tight deadline. Here’s how it all went down.
The Brief
Magnet Media reached out to us with a bit of a rush job—isn’t it always? They needed us to cover a one-day, three-camera shoot at their client’s office in Canary Wharf. The goal? To film two panel discussions, each about an hour long, with high-profile speakers. They needed everything: a DOP, camera operators, gaffer, sound recordist, HMU, and some solid equipment to make it happen. And of course, we were happy to step in.
Pre-Production
Once we got the brief, we got cracking. After a few emails back and forth, we had a clear idea of what was needed. Rob Radcliffe, Magnet’s Associate Producer, was great to work with—super clear and collaborative. We quickly pulled together a crew and locked down the equipment list, ensuring that we could meet the budget while still bringing in top-quality gear and talent.
The setup was three cameras: one locked-off wide, one focusing on the host, and the third on the speaker. Magnet Media also asked us to provide four podcast-style mics as props for the set (even though sound was captured separately).
Production Day
The big day arrived, and we got an early start—6:00 AM load-in. Shooting in a busy corporate hub like Canary Wharf is always interesting, but our crew knew how to handle it. We worked with the building’s management to arrange everything: vehicle permits, loading docks, safety protocols—you name it.
Our team included:
Hair & Makeup Artist
Production Assistant (PAs) / Data Wrangler
Set Decorator / Props Director
We had two filming blocks: the first with a host and one guest, and the second with a host and two guests. The panels went smoothly, and our crew made sure the camera angles, lighting, and sound were on point—just what Magnet needed to tell their story with clarity and professionalism. We even had time for a few jokes with the execs between takes!
Post-Production Collaboration
Once filming wrapped, we coordinated closely with Magnet’s post-production team, delivering all the footage on hard drives, making sure it was easy for their editors to get started. Communication was key here, and we kept everything running smoothly to hit their deadlines.
Challenges & Highlights
Like any shoot, there were a few challenges—mainly navigating the logistics of shooting in a corporate space. But our team handled it all, from setting up in a shared office space to making sure we got crystal-clear audio despite the occasional background noise. Canary Wharf is a busy place, after all!
The best part? Working with Magnet Media was a pleasure. They share a similar ethos to us—storytelling that matters—so the collaboration felt natural. Plus, the space at One Canada Square was a stunning backdrop, and our crew had everything they needed to make it work.
Wrapping Up
At the end of the day, Magnet Media was stoked with the results. The footage looked fantastic, and we hit the budget and the deadline, keeping everything on track. It’s projects like this that remind us why we love what we do—getting to work with talented people and creating content that leaves a lasting impact.
So, if you’re looking for film crew hire in London (or anywhere else!), give us a shout. We’re always up for the next big thing.
